Americas Daily Briefing — 11 Aug 2026

The Executive Office of the President just issued a proclamation adjusting imports of polysilicon and its derivatives. Here's what it means for US solar energy manufacturers and importers.

1️⃣ Executive Office of the President — Adjusting Polysilicon Imports
A new executive trade rule has been issued by the President to modify and adjust how we import polysilicon and related solar items.
This major shift will impact US solar panel makers, clean power developers, and all firms that buy or sell these materials.
Compliance teams must check their supply chains now and work out how this change will affect what they pay for raw parts.

2️⃣ Executive Office of the President — Protecting American Citizenship Value
A new order was signed by the President to set up strict rules and guard the deep value of US citizenship.
This new policy hits federal immigration staff, public aid offices, and all foreign nationals who hope to get naturalized here.
All agencies must update their screening papers and start to review their check processes in a very short time frame.

3️⃣ Executive Office of the President — Ending Birth Tourism
The President signed an order designed to stop travel programs that are used by people to get birthright citizenship here.
This policy directly hits consular offices, international travel agencies, and foreign individuals who apply for tourist visas to visit.
Consular officers will use new screening plans to check on visa requests and make sure they are valid.

4️⃣ U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services — Mandatory e-Filing
The agency published a temporary rule that makes electronic filing a must for certain immigration requests and benefits.
This big change hits immigration lawyers, legal help groups, and all individual applicants who must file paperwork.
Firms must change how they prepare files and move their entire work flow over to the digital portal.

5️⃣ U.S. Customs and Border Protection — Energy Security Act Amendments
CBP issued a final rule that makes necessary changes to align with the new energy security laws.
The new rule impacts marine shipping operators, cargo ship captains, and oil transit firms that move energy goods.
Staff must update their vessel logs and modify how they report information to comply with the law.
